Materials You'll Need
- Sock yarn (worsted weight or fingering weight)
- Knitting needles (size US 1-3, or 2.25-3.25mm)

20 stitches and 30 rows in stockinette stitch = 4 inches (10cm) on size US 1-3 needles.
Abbreviations
- CO: Cast on
- K: Knit
- P: Purl
- BO: Bind off
- Sts: Stitches
- Rnd: Round
Instructions
Step 1: Cast On
CO 60 sts onto your needles. Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches.
Step 2: Ribbing
K2, P2 around for 2 inches (5cm).
Step 3: Leg
K around until the leg measures 6 inches (15cm) from the cast-on edge.
Step 4: Heel Flap
Row 1: K28, turn.
Row 2: Sl 1, K27, turn.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until there are 30 rows in the heel flap. Alternatively, you can work even rows only in stockinette stitch.
Step 5: Heel Turn
Row 1: K14, SSK (slip 2 stitches knitwise onto the right needle, then knit them together),turn.
Row 2: Sl 1, P13, turn.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until there are 14 sts remaining on the needle.
Step 6: Gusset
Row 1: Sl 1, K1, SSK, K1, pick up and knit the wrapped stitch from the previous row, K2tog (knit 2 stitches together),K1, pick up and knit the wrapped stitch from the previous row, K1, SSK, K1, turn.
Row 2: Sl 1, P12, turn.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until there are 30 sts on the needle.
Step 7: Foot
K around until the foot measures 7 inches (18cm) from the heel turn.
Step 8: Toe
Row 1: K2, K2tog, K to end.
Row 2: K around.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until there are 8 sts remaining on the needle.
Step 9: Close Toe
K2tog around until there are no stitches remaining.
Cut the yarn and pull it through the last 2 stitches.
Step 10: Weave in Ends
Use a tapestry needle to weave in any loose ends.
