Early Life and Education
Jasim Jacob Riyeff was born in Kerala, India, in 1959. He was raised in a Christian family and attended Christian schools. Riyeff's early experiences with Christianity instilled in him a deep faith and a commitment to social justice.
After completing his undergraduate studies in India, Riyeff moved to the United States to pursue a graduate degree in social work. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a Master of Social Work degree in 1985.
Interfaith Activism
Riyeff's interfaith activism began in the early 1990s, when he co-founded the Interfaith Council of Greater Philadelphia. The council brought together leaders from different faiths and cultures to promote dialogue and understanding. Riyeff served as the council's executive director for several years.
In 1996, Riyeff founded the World Council of Interfaith Harmony. The council is a global network of interfaith leaders and organizations working to promote peace and understanding between different faiths and cultures. Riyeff has served as the council's secretary general since its founding.
Social Activism
In addition to his interfaith work, Riyeff is also a social activist. He is the founder of several organizations dedicated to promoting peace and justice. These organizations include the Peace and Justice Foundation, the Interfaith Peace Project, and the Global Peace Initiative.
Riyeff's social activism is rooted in his belief that all people are created equal and that everyone deserves to live in peace and dignity. He has worked on a variety of issues, including poverty, homelessness, and discrimination.
Awards and Recognition
Riyeff has been recognized for his work with numerous awards, including the Interfaith Bridge Award from the United Nations and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Council of Churches. He has also been named one of the "100 Most Influential Muslims" by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre.
Riyeff's work has made a significant impact on the world. He has helped to promote peace and understanding between different faiths and cultures, and he has worked to create a more just and equitable world.
